Haddington & Lammermuir by-election count. Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland, United Kingdom, 10 May 2019. Pictured: Conservative Councillors (L to R) Lachlan Bruce, Gordon Mackett, Jean Henderson, Craig Hoy (newly elected) and Sue Kempson . The election takes place of one councillor in Ward 5 of East Lothian Council due to the resignation of Councillor Brian Small. The successful candidate represents this ward along with the three existing councillors. The by-election uses the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system in which voters can rank candidates in order of preference and can choose to vote for as many or as few candidates as they like. The election fields 5 candidates from Scottish National Party (SNP), Scottish Labour Party, Scottish Conservatives and Unionist Party, Scottish Liberal Democrats and UK Independence Party (UKIP).
The candidate elected is Stuart Craig Hoy, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
