SAVE THE BIGGAR BONFIRE

As South Lanarkshire Council threaten not to licence the annual bonfire over safety grounds, although nothing has changed in 30 years, the community of Biggar gathered tonight (Tuesday 7th December) to express their support for the Hogmanay bonfire.

This centuries old tradition is famous internationally, and is supported by local people who have already added more than 3,500 signatures to a petition to save it. The lights that people are carrying symbolise the hope that the bonfire will continue for years to come.
