The Portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie, newly acquired by the National Galleries of Scotland under the Acceptance in Lieu of tax scheme and valued at £1.1 million, is thought to have been created by artist Allan Ramsay in Edinburgh in 1745, at the height of the Jacobite rising. The portraits is the only one of the Prince Charles to have been painted in Britain.
