A scene from the SCOTTISH BALLET production of "The Fairy's Kiss" (Le Baiser de la Fée) at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow.
Scottish-born choreographer Kenneth MacMillan created The Fairy’s Kiss in 1960 for The Royal Ballet, and Scottish Ballet’s revival marks the 25th anniversary of his death and its first presentation since 1986.
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Ice Maiden, The Fairy's Kiss tells the story of a boy cursed with a kiss, destined for immortality. Scottish Ballet’s production features new sets and costumes designed by Gary Harris, who worked closely with MacMillan.
The Fairy’s Kiss will be performed alongside Christopher Hampson’s The Rite of Spring in Glasgow (6-7 October), Edinburgh (11-13 October), Aberdeen (24-25 October), and Inverness (3-4 November). Scottish Ballet will also perform The Fairy’s Kiss at The Royal Opera House, London on 18 and 19 October. This marks the first time that the Company will have performed at this iconic venue.
