Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities, Angela Constance today launched a consultation on plans to make it easier – and less intrusive – for transgender people to be legally recognised in their acquired gender.
The Programme for Government set out a commitment that the Scottish Government would consult on reforming gender recognition legislation.
Ms Constance visited LGBT Youth in Edinburgh and met members of their Commission on Gender Recognition, as well as representatives from Scottish Trans Alliance and the Equality Network, and heard about their experiences.
