Corncrakes are found on the islands of Uist in the Outer Hebrides, a key area for their breeding and recovery in Scotland. They arrive in the islands in late April and head for areas with the longest vegetation.
Now largely restricted to a small number of islands and coastal strongholds, the corncrake is a migratory summer visitor from it’s wintering grounds in Africa.
