Deputy First Minister John Swinney visited Cowgate Nursery in Edinburgh to meet children, staff and modern apprentices working in early years and childcare. Mr Swinney confirmed that a record number of early years apprenticeships are expected to start this year as part of the expansion of free nursery and childcare. Mr Swinney toured the nursery and discussed the City of Edinburgh Council’s plans to expand the early years and childcare workforce and met with modern apprentices as well as Jake Stefanovic, an ambassador from the Scottish Government’s childcare recruitment campaign.
