Ian Rankin Signs Oor Wullie statue, Edinburgh, 30 July 2019

Ian Rankin designed the Oor Wullie statue which was made on his suggestion as he is all for Edinburgh Sick kids fund raising. Mr Rankin's son has very complex special needs and Mr Rankin senior developed a very close replationship with them over the past 25 years was they helped looking after his son.

The Oor Wullie Bucket trail (200 statues around Scotland) are all fund raising for the various charities.

Mr Rankin was signing this particular statue to show that this was his design and that he was proud to be associated with the fund raising. Mr Rankin was brought up reading the Broons and Oor Wullie and was one of the first literatures he ever read.
