He began working with people with dementia in 1992, and has held a number of posts with nursing homes, hospitals, libraries and arts centres. Kathleen E. Taylor is a popular science author and a research scientist in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford.

Book fanatics headed to Charlotte Square in Edinburgh which is the hub of the international Book Festival to meet the authors and also to meet up with fellow fans of the printed word.
