The local Surfers Against Sewage group organised a Paddle Out protest this morning on Portobello Beach. The Paddle Out is a spriritual symbol in surfing culture, usually held to commemorate the passinf of a fellow surfer and involves a group of surfers and paddle boarders forming a circle in the sea. On this occassion the paddle out in Portobello, and elsewhere across the UK, was held to highlight the plight of the ocreans and the planet to the G7 leaders meeting in Cornwall.
