Mr Rankin's son has very complex special needs and Mr Rankin senior  developed a very close replationship with them over the past 25 years was they helped looking after his son.   <br />

The Oor Wullie Bucket trail (200 statues around Scotland) are all fund raising for the various charities.<br />
<br />
Mr Rankin was signing this particular statue to show that this was his design and that he was proud to be associated with the fund raising.  Mr Rankin was brought up reading the Broons and Oor Wullie and was one of the first literatures he ever read.

Major Incident uinits from the ambulance service were seen heading to the school around 9:30 on Monday 16 July 2018.  The armed  and dog units were stood down atr 10:00 with the ambulances still in situ.  No casualties were reported from the incident.  <br />
