Police Scotland is warning that anyone can be a victim of doorstep crime after householders lost hundreds of thousands of pounds to scammers. <br />
<br />
The Shut Out Scammers campaign was launched today at the Clydesdale Bank, George Street, Edinburgh.  Chief Superintendent John McKenzie was joined by colleagues from Police Scotland, Clydesdale Bank, Care and Repair Edinburgh, Crime Stoppers and Trading Standards.<br />

Ch Supt Lesley Clark has been named as the new police divisional commander for the Lothians and Scottish Borders.<br />
She grew up in Midlothian and started her career as a special constable in 1987 and has worked in Edinburgh and Livingston while rising through the ranks and said she hoped to "enhance the safety of the public". She replaces Ch Supt Ivor Marshall who is now to chair the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents. Ch Supt Clark became a regular officer in 1988, before later going on to work in Police Scotland's Operational Support Division looking after event and emergency planning.  She returned to Edinburgh where she has been part of the Senior Management Team with responsibility for areas including counter terrorism, emergency and event planning, wellbeing and engagement.

Humza Yousaf, MSP, minister for Transport and the Islands joined the Edinburgh Community Safety Partnership as they officially launched Edinburgh’s Transport Charter aimed at eradicating hate crime on all forms of transport in the city. Each of the organisations involved with the partnership will outline their approach to responding to incidents.  The launch will be followed by two days of action where representatives will be in transport hubs, promoting an understanding of hate crime, raising awareness of the charter and how to report unacceptable behaviours. A new booklet was created by a group of prisoners after a Meet the Police event revealed many prisoners' children thought the police had taken their parent from them. The leaflet was launched by Mark McDonald, MSP, Minister for Childcare and Early Years at Saughton Prison, Edinburgh. The minister was joined by Scottish Prison Service chief executive Colin McConnell, PC  Tracey Gunn, Prison Link Officer Police Scotland, Nicola Ceesay, HMP Edinburgh Visitot Centre  Richard Thomas, Superintendent Police Scotland and other senior police officers<br />
