A new booklet was created by a group of prisoners after a Meet the Police event revealed many prisoners' children thought the police had taken their parent from them. The leaflet was launched by Mark McDonald, MSP, Minister for Childcare and Early Years at Saughton Prison, Edinburgh. Justice Secretary Michael Matheson joined governor Caroline Johnstone to mark the start of demolition of Corton Vale Prison today. Cornton Vale is a women's prison in Stirling, operated by the Scottish Prison Service. Built in 1975, Cornton Vale comprises a total of 217 cells in its 5 houses. Ministers decided to close the prison after former Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini warned it was “not fit for purpose”.<br />
