The carts, designed to echo the old style bathing carts that used to grace Portobello beach, will be used in a variety of ways by different artists at locations across Portobello, Edinburgh's seaside suburb. The Art Walk is now in its third year and will run over the next day days with a range of events and exhibitions.   • The Jennifer Ewan Band took a break from their Fringe show 'Bonnie Bayou' at the Montebar to check out the best spots to perform at Portobello's Big Beach Busk this coming Saturday. The local Scots-Cajun pop group will be back on Saturday afternoon along with musicians of all sorts providing a mile of music at Edinburgh's seaside suburb. This will be the eighth year of the busk that was first started by Portobello resident Paul Lambie. All performers are welcome to just turn up, find a place to play and join in.   • The Jennifer Ewan Band took a break from their Fringe show 'Bonnie Bayou' at the Montebar to check out the best spots to perform at Portobello's Big Beach Busk this coming Saturday. The local Scots-Cajun pop group will be back on Saturday afternoon along with musicians of all sorts providing a mile of music at Edinburgh's seaside suburb. This will be the eighth year of the busk that was first started by Portobello resident Paul Lambie. All performers are welcome to just turn up, find a place to play and join in.   • A new Ferris Wheel has appeared in Portobello, Edinburgh almost overnight and locals are bemused that they had heard nothing about it.   • The Edinburgh Kiltwalk passed along Portobello Prom this lunchtime. Amongst the walkers, raising funds for a wide range of charities, were Portobello's four councillors, walking together in their fundraising efforts for the Thistle Foundation.  Calum Laidlaw started the 24-mile Mighty Stride in Holyrood Park while the other three councillors - Maureen Child, Mary Campbell and Kate Campbell - started the 15.5-mile Big Stroll in Musselburgh.<br />

  • The first event of Art Walk Porty, Portobello's community arts event, started this lunchtime. Hastings-based artist Greig Burgoyne started his live-art performance on the beach at Portobelllo - the site of the old Portobello pier. The piece, Pier to Pier, takes the form of a day-long drawing performance and makes connections with Hastings and its still-standing pier. The event runs until Sunday 9th September with a wide range of exhibitions and events taking place across Portobello.<br />

All shapes and sizes of home made plastic bottle rockets, powered only by water and an air pump, arced over the sand, watched by a large crowd. <br />
